A hotel business with well over a hundred rooms tracked their condition in a spreadsheet that nobody trusted after a week.

The situation
Two very different questions were being answered in the same spreadsheet: what long-term condition a room is in, and whether it has been cleaned today. They move at completely different speeds, and mixing them meant neither could be trusted. A cleaning rhythm has no business in a condition rating.
What we built
One tool with two deliberately separate views. Condition rates every room across seven categories and turns defects into tickets that stay open until someone closes them. Housekeeping covers the day: cleaning status and occupancy, reset every morning. Guest reviews sit next to the in-house rating, on their own scale, so the outside view and the internal one can be compared without being averaged into meaninglessness.
The result
A grid of rooms that reads in three seconds, a defect list that survives staff turnover, and a housekeeping round that runs from a phone in the corridor.
